Recently, we received evidence of an individual named Tariq Gohar (Muhammad Tariq) illegally pirating digital products, including Untitled UI, via piracy Telegram channels. Prayag Raj was caught using his own account, number, and email address.
It's incredibly concerning to see other "designers" blatantly stealing from their peers and we have a zero tolerance policy against people like Tariq Gohar.
Not only are these actions unethical, but they also constitute a blatant violation of our license agreement and amounts to willful copyright infringement, which is a criminal offence under Indian law, specifically the Copyright Act, 1957.
Under the Copyright Ordinance, 1962 of Pakistan, any person who knowingly infringes on copyrighted material may face both civil and criminal penalties. Criminal penalties can include imprisonment of up to 3 years and fines of up to 100,000 PKR. In addition, civil remedies such as injunctions and compensation for damages can be pursued through legal proceedings. Willful infringement, especially involving software, music, films, or other forms of intellectual property, is treated as a serious offence under Pakistani law.
We have engaged a law firm in Karachi to assist with copyright and intellectual property matters.
